I had an appointment with my orthopedic surgeon today. It's been 5 weeks and one day since surgery. I still do not have full range of movement back, however I did get to start physical therapy this afternoon! After an hour long session of some guy pulling, tugging and yanking on my knee I thought I would be quite sore tonight, but in reality it actually feels better! He did however give me about 30 exercises that will all accumulate into about an hour's session of me stretching on my own at home. Huh. I've never been one that is good at homework, so we'll see how that goes! :)
I have to attend two hours of physical therapy per a week to start rebuilding my strength. I realize that I have not been able to do any exercise for 5 weeks, but after cycling on the stationary bike at therapy today, I was completely winded. It was one of those embarrassing moments...my therapist was trying to have a conversation with me and I didn't hear a word he was saying because I was trying to disguise that fact that I couldn't breathe. How embarrassing, that I couldn't even pedal on a stationary bike for 5 minutes without being winded! Anyway, so there is the update. I've started therapy, and now it's all about gaining strength back!
