You Must Speak to Them...

As many of my dedicated "blog readers" know...
Justin and I planted an organic garden this spring.
Organic means that we use only clean soil, water and
sun to grow our produce. None of our veggies contain
any chemicals, pesticides or steroids which can be found in our
local grocery market produce.
Conclusion...healthier food!
Here is what our garden looked like before
we planted $50.00 worth of food.
($45.00 was consumed by rabbits.)
Fast forward to now and we have
tons growing!
Below is our HUGE zucchini plant
that will undoubtedly provide way more zucchini
than Justin and I can consume.

Our Jolly-Piano (jalapeno) plants.

Tomato plants...which are also producing
mass amounts of tomatoes.
Last night I picked our very first
zucchini! Organic zucchini does not
have all the "steroids" in it, so a typical
healthy zucchini should only be about 1 inch diameter
and 4-6 inches long.
I was also able to pluck up some of the onion that we have
grown. I'm leaving about 15 bulbs in the ground still to see how
much bigger they will get...but my have these ones grown!
Tonight we are combining the below ingredients into
a spaghetti sauce. I just wished some of our tomatoes were ready.
Oh-well! It's exciting growing your own produce and eating it!

Justin told me not to get too excited...his exact words were,
"Right now those 5 onion and 1 zucchini cost $50.00."
{sigh. thanks for putting it all into perspective.}

Unfortunately the rabbits ate the strawberries and raspberries. We also had green pepper, banana peppers and green onion growing, but again...you can thank little Peter Rabbit! We're taking orders on zucchini and tomatoes and possibly even willing to give away some jolly-pianos depending on how many the plants will produce. Justin is the only one in this household who eats those icky things! Now all I need is a cow, chicken and pig and we'll be a complete farm!

Happy Thursday!
