Let's play a fun game....
View the photos below and then decide what is missing...
This girl is so warm and content that she absolutely will not come out.
This morning at 6:30am I was induced. By late afternoon we were sent home empty-handed. Who in the heck fails an induction?!.....oh, I do!
According to the monitor, I was contracting when I arrived. They started me on Pitocin (labor inducing drug) to help the process along, and according to the charts I started having regular contractions every minute to two minutes. The nurse kept on saying to me,
"Once your contractions are hitting a pain level of 4- you need to tell me so that we can start the process of an epidural..."
But they never got to a pain level of 4. So she kept on upping my dosage of Pitocin...so goes the story for 7 long hours. I contracted regularly, but they did not hurt at all. The doctor came in, my body was not progressing- so he looked at me and said,
"Sorry kiddo- not today. She does not want to come out. We will send you home and see what happens."
I looked at him and said,
"Are you serious?!"
I did not even know it was an option to fail an induction!...It was a huge disappointment, Justin and I really thought we would be snuggling our baby girl by late afternoon today. However, we do not want to force anything if it is not ready. So we are back at home predicting the days ahead of us since this little girl is already a stubborn one.
Until then, we shall continue to w...a...i...t.
I guess today was a nice trial run.
~We became more comfortable with the hospital surroundings, nurses and doctors.
~We know what items we may or may not need that we had packed.
~ I know which nurse I do NOT want to put my IV in again.
~I know that no matter how you try to style it, those hospital gowns instantly add 50 pounds onto your body
~ We know which room has the best view (the one we were discharged out of!)
And I know that you lose all sense of dignity going through the labor process.
See, as long as we are learning and embracing the positives in the situation-it's all good!
