Today was my sister's first marathon. She has run a half marathon and a 10mile- but never a marathon...until today. She finished strong and we could not be more proud of her! We were able to see her at the 10 mile, 22 mile and see her run across that finish line! Have you ever witnessed a marathon? It is AMAZING. I got emotional standing there watching these athletes pour their blood, sweat, and tears (Literally) into running.
At one point, I overheard a runner ask their partner,
"Are you hungry? Because I got some lettuce."
That is just one of many, many, many reasons why I would never sign myself up for something this insane. Do you know people run this thing barefoot?! The fastest guy finished in just over 2 hours. I learned all about "pacers" and why you SHOULD write your name on your shirt, and how much clothing gets swept up at the end of the race. So interesting..... Nonetheless, not for me. However, from the sidelines- it is incredibly inspiring. We were "Team Green" cheering on Tiff! We had the smartest idea in Minnesota- tie green balloons to ourselves so that Tiff could always spot us in the crowd! It worked well! Look for blue shorts and a black t-shirt in the photos to spot Tiffany!
...Here she comes!
...There she goes!
...Smiles at mile 22! Looking good. (except for the 80's headphones- but she won't give them up!)
...I ran a block with her. Then I sat down because I was tired. Okay, it was really half a block, but whatever.
...Hannah was a trooper...then she fell asleep!
...5 yards from that finish line!
HOORAY!....She did it!
...An old (but very good) friend Betsy also ran- SO GLAD we were able to cheer for her too! Way to go Betsy - you're insane! This was her 4th marathon and she is signed up for two more.
