Toot My own Horn...Toot! Toot!

This is my blog.

I get to post whatever I want and so tonight, I am going to toot my own horn...ring my own bell...be my own publicist...pat myself on the back...and sing my own praise...Toot! Toot!

(feel free to stop reading. i gave you fair warning.)

Until now, I purposely have not mentioned my plans for next Saturday morning. Because sometimes I have a hard time sticking to extravagant plans that I set up for myself. Not that I am a quitter...but let's just say I get distracted easily. Especially when these "extravagant plans" have to do with one of two things:

Food & Exercise.

-

However....a few months ago I became inspired to start running again and get this old "mom-body" back into shape. (In reality, it's been almost a year now since pushing Hannah out- and the ole saying, "I just had a baby" probably doesn't pack the same punch as it did at one time.) So I got the grand idea and made an "extravagant plan" to run the relay version of the Saint Cloud Earth Day Half Marathon with my sister. -

I have not mentioned it until now- because with Minnesota weather and no gym membership- training in 20 degree weather, having a sick baby, and working full-time has made training very hard at times. But, I stuck through it all (Toot! Toot!) and I am proud to say that Tiff and I are ready for the half marathon next Saturday morning!

Since we are doing the "relay-style" the front runner endures 6 miles and then trades off to the back runner who takes on a little over 7 miles. My sister, being the very generous and caring gal that she is- gladly passed off the back seven to me. (Love you younger-and-much-more-in-shape-little-sister.) I just came home from another 6+ miler (Toot! Toot!) and I am feeling great. For me to start an exercise commitment that requires me to run 5+ miles multiple times a week and stick with it...Well, let's just say: There are pigs... (giant pigs- think boars- flying in the air right now.) Looking forward to my first official run/race.

-

So...If you're in the Saint Cloud area next Saturday morning with nothing to do- stop by the Earth Day Run and come cheer us on! Bring your cameras, being the picture person that I am- I am bummed that I probably won't get any photos....We got matching outfits- look for BRIGHT pink shirts coming at you. (and if you miss us, you'll know- we will have bright pink bows in our hair too!)

If nothing else, just come out and get inspired to start/keep your body moving and grooving. There is seriously nothing more amazing and inspiring then watching a race!

Good for you, Nicole!!! That is certainly a big accomplishment. Here's a quote that used to hang in my bedroom when I was growing up:

"The race goes not to the swift but to those who keep on running."

Hope it's a great experience!
