The Melting Pot

The Johnston siblings try to get together for dinner every now and then. We enjoy trying new restaurants (apparently, no matter the cost!). Last night we joined Justin's brothers, their significant others and also our cousin Evan (who is currently living with the Johnstons) at the famous Melting Pot restaurant in Minneapolis. It is basically a fondue feast. We started with two delicious cheese fondues and ended with a chocolate peanut butter fondue. Somewhere in the middle we "fondued" a large platter filled with all sorts of raw meats and seafood. We walked away with a nice bill of $140.00 for two people, and an irate husband.
(Exact quote: "We just paid $140.00 to cook our own damn food!")

Justin and I give this restaurant

4 out of 5 stars....possible even 3 1/2....but I feel generous today.

We could have done without the main course. The cheese fondue and dessert fondue were deliciously scrumptious, but the main course was just so-so. There was a large price tag attached, and although our waitress was wonderful- we arrived at 7:30pm and the dessert ended at 10:45pm. So it is NOT a quick eating experience!

All-in-all, it was great company and we enjoyed ourselves. I told Justin he had until we hit Elk River to complain about the bill and than he had to focus on the good food and company. We had a blast fishing out each other's meat from the pots and stealing one anothers chocolate fondue. Unfortunately HWY 94 was down to one lane on the way home, so mix that with a very looooong eating experience and we dedicate a special shout out to the Adolphsons for watching Hannah until midnight when we told them we would be home no later than 10.

oops.

Maybe the restaurant should be 3.5 stars. The company made it 5 stars.

Oh my gosh. Hannah was an angel. She could have spent the night for all we cared :) Can't wait to do it again!
