A Lot of Words For A Short Few Days...

It's Sunday evening, and it seems as if this weekend has been longer than normal.....It has been a very fun weekend as the Kahler family road tripped to "Packer Land." Our cousin Kevin on my dad's side was married to a fabulous girl, Jessica Saturday night. It was a gorgeous wedding, and a fun "mini-vacation" to get away from the stresses of work.

Justin's been busy at work as his design team struggles to meet a deadline that has been approaching all too closely, forcing Justin to head into work early and close up after hours. Nicole's been keeping her eye on the light at-the-end-of-the-tunnel as there are only 9 days left of school! So we were looking forward to hopping on the road and leaving town!

We took off immediately after work Friday afternoon for Green Bay where we stayed at http://www.saintbrendansinn.com/index.html
Saint Brendans Inn, an Old Irish Inn. I'm attaching the website because it was an adorable hotel that we would definitely recommend to anyone needing to stay in Green Bay.

This little Inn had a feeling of a small apartment....not those nasty hotel kind where you don't even want to sit on the bed and walk around barefoot! This was our "home" Friday and Saturday. Below are some picture's from Kevin and Jess's wedding, it was so nice to spend some time with the entire Kahler family!

After an uneventful day at Lambeau Field we headed back to good ole' Elk River. Justin drove and I slept for 4 out of the 5 hours....the ride went by quickly! :) I was woken up by a phone call from our friend Jeff who was checking to make sure we were okay...we had no clue what he was talking about! We were in Coon Rapids, about 20 minutes away from home when I took his call and he explained that there is horrible weather happening in Elk River and that it was all over the news. Justin and I quickly turned on WCCO to find out what the heck was going on. 5 minutes after getting out of Coon Rapids, as we entered Anoka the radio announced that a tornado had just touched down in Coon Rapids! Close Call!!! As we completed our short drive home we hit really heavy rain and debated pulling over as we were warned from the radio that there was a lot of hail up ahead. We kept going figuring that if there was traffic still going East on hwy 10 (the opposite direction as us) that we would be fine. When we finally got home, we were welcomed with a lawn full of hail. We luckily escaped any damage, as a lot of our neighbors had damage to cars and siding. Below are a few pictures of what welcomed us back in Elk River.

Like I said, we are lucky for no significant damage, however we didn't go untouched...Sadly, my tulips did not make it! (moment of silence, please.)

After admiring the hail and snapping a few pictures we went inside, and no more than 10 minutes after we arrived home, we got a second hail storm! How lucky we were to miss a tornado and arrive home in between storms! Below is a video where you can see the hail dropping and hear it pelting our windows!

If you look outside now, it's a gorgeous sunshining Sunday evening! You wouldn't even be able to tell there was a storm!

So, that is our past few days in a nutshell! A Wedding, Lambeau Field, and a Storm!...that is about as exciting as our days get! Tomorrow we get to enjoy a day off as we honor Memorial Day. Thanks for stopping in to see what we've been up to, feel free to leave comments!

Happy Sunday!
