For all those who know me, you know one thing that I cherish in life is photographs....
"It's actual bliss when you can capture a life's moment in a photograph."
I have albums upon albums of old memories from high school, college and major trips. Photographs on display in cute colorful albums that I rarely pull out to view, but simply find comfort in knowing those old memories are only a few steps and a single reach away. However, as of new digital technology - my cute colorful albums have been replaced by a manila folder icon on my computer's desktop.
If my computer crashes I will no longer possess any family holiday pictures, snapshots of friends being goofy and definitely not as many pictures lying around of Riley! I feel like we have reached an era where my generation will go to share old memories with our children and we will come up empty handed. As we sit and reminisce to our children about our youthful days and try to convince them that at one time "back-in-the-day" we did actually have sociable fun lives...we will lack the luxury of turning to a photograph to back up our stories.
I for one need to do a much better job of not only releasing pictures from my computer that are of important trips or those pictures that just turn out perfect for a picture frame to carefully hang on a wall. I need to start printing them all off and again placing the photos in cute colorful albums. Snapshots of the holidays, the parties, the camping trips, the memories that help clear away the cobwebs in my mind of that exact moment caught in each photograph.
Speaking of "cobwebby" memories, exactly one year ago, I was aboard a ship celebrating my father's retirement in Alaska with my entire family. It is agreed that that week long cruise was by far Justin and My favorite vacation of all time. Below I've attached a few photographs that did actually make it into a cute colorful album...well not really, it's in a black leather album....but anyway, you get the picture. (no pun intended.) :)
Happy One-Year Retirement Dad!
I must also give a well-deserved Shout Out to my parents who are celebrating their 35th wedding Anniversary today!
