As many of you already know, we bring Max to doggie day-care about once a week to run off some extra energy. The day care he goes to is called the Rin Tin Inn, and they are absolutely wonderful there. Unfortunately, Max got a little rough with another dog there by the name of Bella. He nipped her on the nose when they were playing last week. (The owner assured me that it was not out of negative aggression). Apparently Bella is a 4 month hold Weinheimer and her and Max had been playing together all day. ( Weinheimers and Vizslas are in the same family, and look very similar- both very high energy dogs.) Well, Rich from the Rin Tin Inn just called me this afternoon to let me know that Max's "nip" was so hard that it caused Bella $300.00 worth of medical care. Thankfully, Bella's owners knew that she might have played a part in her relentless puppy nipping too- so they offered to split the bill in half with us. I feel bad for Bella, Max got her right in the muzzle area! I had a nice long chat with Max this afternoon about how his body needs to remain in control even though he might be excited. We also talked about how he is getting very strong as he gets older and so he needs to be more cautious of what his body is doing at all times. Then I felt bad for lecturing him and gave him a treat and some kisses, because I know he wouldn't ever mean to hurt anyone. I'm such a horrible disciplinarian, he also got a new collar that matches his eyes, new doggie chew treats and a new squeaky toy shaped like a bottle of beer that reads, "O'Drool's." .....Sheesh, I need some work on those parenting skills! So, other than that bad news from his daycare, I'm enjoying my day off from work!
