29 Weeks and Counting

Justin and I could be responsible for a helpless little baby girl in as soon as seven weeks. We are still deciding if this is a scary thought or an exciting one. If you ask Riley, he's flat out pissed. On Saturday Justin and I attended an 8 hour course on childbirth. We covered topics from the entire birthing process, to calming techniques and even got to see an epidural needle. The first three hours were dedicated to explaining in detail (including an up-close and personal video-uck.) on the ENTIRE process of birthing your baby. Needless to say, the first three hours I felt ill and had this sudden feeling of panic and thoughts of, "What on earth have I done to myself?!" raced through my mind. Overall, it was interesting and a very very long day. We toured the family birthing floor- nothing too spectacular. If I did not love our doctor so much, we would not ever be delivering at the Monticello Hospital. So this is for you Dr. Lefevbre! You better be my doctor when it comes to delivery day!! We also received all sorts of important information about when to actually come to the hospital, what to pack and yadda, yadda, yadda....Justin was amazingly calm the entire course. He was shocked at how long the entire process can last from first contraction all the way to the actual child. He kept noting that I WILL be receiving drugs and that it is not a choice. :) Pregnancy life keeps moving along. Besides feeling bigger than life- I am still getting decent sleep and I still have some pretty good energy levels- so I cannot complain. The coolest thing that has changed over the last few weeks is her movements. I used to feel little kicks and jabs, but now we see actual limbs going from one side of my belly to the other. Or she will often push up against with a foot or hand....It is the neatest feeling to lay on my back and just watch my belly move. Last night Justin was "reading her a book." When he was done, he said good night to her and told her she needed to go to sleep, and POW! She threw a limb right at him! It was the funniest thing ever! We have been enjoying the ride, but are most anxious to meet her. We have another doctor's appointment this Thursday where I will have my glucose tolerance exam to test for gestational diabetes. Should be interesting, we'll keep you updated!
