In celebration of under 100 days to go until we meet our little peanut, I've decided to write a top 5 list of things students have said to me at work about my pregnancy. I never figured that me being pregnant would be such exciting news to kindergarten through fifth graders, but apparently it's the "Pinewood-Gossip" right now amongst many students. It does make sense, as it is harder and harder to conceal my "bump" so the students are really able to visually see differences in me.... So here is a list of things students have said to me:
1. "I see your baby!"
(while pointing to my stomach)
-
2. "Are you getting fatter yet?"
(Did I mention that I teach social skills?...obviously this kid needs more work!)
-
3. (One of my less verbal students just kept repeating
"Ball....Ball"
(While pointing to my belly.)
-
4. "You know babies cry?"
(This second grader has a brand new baby brother at home- I asked him how he helps his little brother to stop crying.....)
"I give him mommy's boobie."
-
5. "Why would you want to have a baby?
You know they have to cut your stomach open?"
(To which another student replied),
"They don't cut your stomach open, they cut your pee area."
-
So obviously, if I ever have questions or concerns, I'll just ask my students.
