Our First Homework Assignment

As stated in an earlier post Hannah has a very important homework assignment this weekend for preschool. So we got right to it this afternoon....Opening up our bag of goodies to see what was inside our safari backpack...

Binoculars to spot all sorts of different birds, animals and if you are Hannah?...well, they came to Target with us too because she was so excited about them.

Another assignment? Find bugs and spray them with "repellent!"

Amongst other activities like coloring in our own safari person, reading safari books while snacking on animal crackers, and more....

Hannah enjoyed it, and as you can surely guess- Justin enjoyed it just as much. Wish I could post more photos- but Blogger still has not fixed this problem....argh.

Safari-Week

Hannah is a rainforest queen.
She has been studying all about the different animals, birds, bugs and fruit that you can find in a rainforest. This weekend she is designated as the "Safari Queen."
What on earth does that mean?....

She was crowned:

And sent home with the Safari backpack filled with all sorts of goodies, books, activities and the best part? It's her turn to bring home the (stuffed) classroom's toucan named Sam.

She has to keep a journal of all her weekend's safari adventures to bring back and share with the class on Tuesday. Hannah felt so special that she was this weekend's designates Safari Queen...
(I would say she makes a pretty cute Queen, too!)

First Day of Preschool

Well, I survived.
More importantly though- my little girl survived her first two days of preschool.
-
Justin and I made the decision to enroll Hannah into a new pilot program offered by Hennepin County through in-home daycares. The idea behind the program is to offer full-time working parents the opportunity for their children to still receive a preschool education. So any licensed daycare provider who also holds an educators license is eligible to execute the preschool curriculum monitored by the county and department of education. Hannah's morning schedule consists of structured preschool learning and her afternoon schedule is that of a typical in home daycare. As you can imagine, there are not a whole lot of daycare providers out there who also hold an active educator's license, so we really lucked out in getting Hannah into this sort of setting.
-
Hannah had a full list of supplies and items that she would need to start in her first structured setting of being introduced to learning. As I packed her backpack and labeled her school items with her name, I had another "mommy moment." Hannah is getting too big. Her backpack (the smallest we could find- but yet has to be regulation size for all her projects and "school work") is as big as my little girl.
Here is her first day of preschool photo.
(The best I could get all by myself at 7:30am...she looks so annoyed).

The first two weeks are dedicated to the jungle, talking all about animals. She has to bring in a fruit next week for their "jungle fruit salad." (How cute is that?!) Jennifer (her wonderfully awesome provider) hid stuffed animals all over her backyard and the kids went on a jungle hunt with little cameras strapped around their necks and took photos of all the animals that they found. Animals?.....well, she had Hannah right there. Hannah loves it.

Justin and I both dropped and picked Hannah up from her first day. (I was there to support Hannah, and Justin was there to support me.) :) I am going to be a mess when she goes to kindergarten.

Little Gymnast

We enrolled Hannah into pre-school gymnastics. It is the cutest little class ever. It is a gym made only for little ones. The Little Gym of Edina is fantastic. We had an awesome time. The 45 minute class is full of tumbling, singing, dancing, bubbles, balls, parachutes and more...made perfectly for little kids. We thought Hannah would be shy in a new class of 15 other kids- but she ran around like crazy and was a complete social bug. Her favorite activities were probably the parachute and bubbles. Enjoy some photos from her first organized preschool class!

It was the perfect class to help her improve on those motor skills. We had a great time and look forward to this being our new Saturday morning tradition!
