Similarities and Differences- The Life of Being Pregnant

The most common question that I get asked this pregnancy is how it is different or similar from Hannah....I wish there was a way to insert a "T-Chart" into Blogger....and I am sure that there probably is- but Blogger and I are still fighting and so for now I will just list them in a boring format:

Similarities: Hiccups, Heartburn, Uncomfortable, Still not the type of person to "like" being pregnant

Differences: Goes WAY quicker, Get huger faster, Moves a heck of a lot more, More moody in the sense of angry and annoyed this time (I am blaming it on the testosterone) with Hannah I was more emotional- could cry at the drop of anything, Hungrier.

It's funny how much quicker it goes the second time- I never even know what week I am on and with Hannah, I was studying the books each week knowing exactly what was developing. (Poor man is already being neglected!) Today I had my second glucose test because I failed my first one by a few points. I failed my first one with Hannah too, but passed the second with flying colors....so I am hoping for the same turn-out. My arms look like that of a drug addict because they can never find my veins. I was poked over ten times today for 4 blood samples. (Glad it's over.)

In other pregnancy news- he's an active little man (all the time). I continue to get bigger by the second. I am 5 pounds away from the heaviest weight that I was with Hannah- granted I started out heavier this time it sends me into enough of an emotional melt-down to reach for the nearest box of doughnuts. (Have I told you that that is my stinking craving this time?!.....why can't I be one of those girls who craves ice cubes?!....dang those skinny b's.) It's hard being big and chasing after a toddler. It prompted me to create a list:

You Know You Are Nearing the End of Your Pregnancy When...
1. You are jealous of your daughter's Velcro shoes because tying your shoes is a workout that requires you to sit down and make it look way harder than it actually is just to pull some sympathy points out from your husband.
2. Every time something is dropped on the ground you have an internal debate with yourself of just how important it is that it be picked up. Example: I dare you to enter our house. I am the one who picks up Hannah's toys...and I am just saying- her toys are NOT important enough for me to raise my heart rate by bending over 10 times again and again.
3. I wish that there was a little railing attached to the side of my bed to not only help me out of bed each morning but also the 3 times that I have to get up throughout the night to use the bathroom.
4. I could use one of those little chairs attached to a staircase that is connected to a track (you know you've seen them in old people's commercials!) to help guide my over sized body up the stairs while holding my 33 pound two year old because frankly, it's sad that I require a "cool down" period after mountaineering myself up. (Don't even get me started about when I am ALL the way in the basement and have to run up to the bedroom floor. Thank God the kitchen is in route so I can stop and grab a doughnut glass of water.
5. Lastly, I am hesitant to go to the fair because I am afraid that I will be the victim of people's people watching. The huge pregnant lady stuffing her face with deep fried pickles....yep, doesn't get more cliche' than that!

I am sure that I could keep going. I just really dislike how much I slow down in the end of my pregnancies. It's much more evident with Hannah running laps around me and wanting piggyback and horsey rides all the time.

In more positive news, Little man's room is coming along. Justin gave up on doing it himself. He gets frustrated and doesn't have much of an eye for how colors, fabrics, and themes should fit together. (After hearing his ideas, it's a good thing he asked for help!) One of his ideas was pinning up baseball posters and peppering in a few other posters of sports illustrated swimsuit girls. So needless to say, instead, we have worked as a team- he told me what he wanted for theme and colors (not naked girls)and I took it and ran with it. I will post some photos soon- we are just finishing up on a few last touches.

Okay- I finally blogged about little man. Just because I am not posting weekly updates doesn't mean that we are not just as excited about the arrival of baby brother. Saying that we cannot wait and are getting super excited is an understatement. Baby boy, your daddy cannot wait to have another guy around here!

25 Weeks

Little man is the size of a cauliflower. We have already passed up the cantaloupe...sheesh. Weighing in possibly over two pounds, but knowing I breed them BIG- I am going to say with confidence that he is already over two pounds. I looked back and it appears that going off of my current size, I am comparable to how big I was with Hannah at the end of my 7th month. So great, I am growing four weeks ahead of my last pregnancy. I am going to be HUGE when this little man arrives.

We had an appointment yesterday- got to hear his little heart pounding at 145bpm. This mama has gained 8 pounds. (I credit that to my doughnut addiction that I have going on this pregnancy). At our appointment, we also decided on the baby's birth date. :)  That is right, due to the "traumatic" delivery of BIG girl Hannah, they have decided it would be best for me to go the c-section route this time. So, quite the different delivery process, but hopefully a lot shorter recovery time on my part!

This pregnancy is flying right on by. Although I am more uncomfortable and it's getting harder and harder to keep up with Hannah....Justin and I cannot believe that we are headed into our 7th month already. Little man has a name, a room and a family that already loves him...now we are just ready for his arrival! Keep on cookin in there, we will meet you soon enough!

Baby Boy Bob

Hello Little Bob,

You are a very active little guy. You actually wake me up at night with your crazy tumbling and kicking rages. You are growing like nuts, as long as a banana and weighing in at just over one pound already! Your room is not even close to being ready (blame that one on your daddy!). However, we do have your name picked out! Your big sister Hannah knows your name and has been practicing it. She is very good at keeping secrets though- the Johnston family tried so hard to get it out of her and she told everyone that your name is, "Corn!" So now you are "baby corn" on the Johnston side! :)

Hannah woke up this morning and the first thing she said was, "I want to see Baby _____!" I had to explain to her that she had to wait a little bit longer....she is very excited to meet you!

I am so proud to be your mama and I must say that other than your crazy acrobatics at 2am, 3am, and 4am, I feel great. I seem to have gotten much larger much quicker this time around- but you are so worth it! Your daddy has high athletic expectations for you. When picking out names he had to say each name that we thought of in this booming-loud-sports-broadcaster-voice just to try it on for size. But don't you worry little man, your mama and daddy will be happy and proud of you no matter what you do!

Thanks for growing strong, you will need your strength against your sister who has already pounced on you a few times. (You have kicked her back a time or two- it confused her greatly.) Our next appointment is in a couple weeks and we can find out more about how you are doing at that time!

Love,

Mama

Introducing....

Our little boy,

BOB.
Yes, until Justin and I can agree on a boy's name- Justin has decided that it is Bob. Why Bob one might ask??.....Because according to my husband- our little man's name must be a palindrome because Hannah's name is a palindrome. (See what I have to work with here!!) So Bob it is, until I get to pick his real name. Er...I mean, until we can agree on a name. :)

We have been stopping a lot these days to pinch ourselves and thank God for the endless blessings he has granted us. As we celebrate in our new home the love of a new little boy, we feel very fortunate for all that is going on in our lives. One boy, one girl and two absolutely thrilled parents. So much to be appreciative of!
-
Since Justin has taken this "boy" thing to an extreme, he asked me if he could do the entire nursery. I am not sure what got into me...but I said yes. So now it has been made a challenge. We are closing our little man's bedroom door and Justin is the only one who has rights into his room. (Again, what on earth was I thinking?!?!) Oh-well, it will be fun to see the big reveal. Until then, I will just shop for little boy clothes! :)

Hannah didn't miss out on the stylin fun. I found these little girl cowboy boots on clearance for $12!!! Originally $50!! Now that is a deal folks!! I know she will love them, this girl is into shoes. (Hmm...wonder where she gets that!)

Well that is all for now! Don't you just love all the blog posts!? Imagine what could be accomplished if I didn't work for those 9 months! hehe.

BOY!

When I think of little boys, I see messes and dirt. So we thought that we would dive right in!

Anyone who knows Justin, knows just how excited he is for a little boy. I will throw up some ultrasound photos soon.

Summer Review

Three whole days I have been on summer vacation. One would do the math at three whole mornings that I was able to sleep in. But no. And it's not Hannah's fault- little girl has been a trooper, sleeping well past 8am (which makes this whole thing even that more frustrating!!). My very first day of summer sleep in is the exact same day that they decide to start the new construction on the house directly next door to ours. You would think that they have laws about how early you can start drilling, hammering and swearing at your coworkers...but apparently 6:30am is the start time for these guys. And if new construction is not bad enough, two houses down they have been drilling huge stakes into the ground to hold up two gigantic tents for our new neighbor's wedding this weekend. They also have an early start time. Don't they know some people are trying to sleep in around here?!?! (Don't worry, Justin does not feel bad for me either.) I am however am thankful that Hannah can sleep through it in the mornings. Gets her ready for a crying baby at all hours of the day! :)

Now onto the rest of our three-day summer updates. This is my little phone dump as I have been too lazy to grab my nice camera and haul it around.
We got grass!

Little H running errands with her Mama.

More things to do!...Lots of time in the car!

Looking too big to be my girl.

Thanking Pinterest for fun little activities that entertain Hannah for endless time. (And helping her fine motor skills!)

Preschool time- ipad style! :)

But wait, Daddy comes home and after a day with Mama of having to abide by rules and follow directions- all bets are off and it's time to wrestle.

This looks like a great idea- human trampoline...until she tries it on her Mama.
In other news, I have made it my personal mission to have Hannah potty-trained by the end of the summer. (I really don't want two babes in diapers!!) So, this week has been a whole lot of talking about it and not so much training, but more introduction. But come Tuesday afternoon we are going full-force. Taking away her diapers except at nap and night...we should see how it goes!

And lastly, you all know that I had an ultrasound today and we did indeed find out the sex. However, we won't be sharing until Sunday. Baby is very healthy with a (finally) established due date of November 11th. Growing strong and bigger. (So is its Mommy) Heart rate comes in at 144 and it's an active little one. So throw your bets out there now because you only have to wait a few more days. here is a belly-shot for you:
